Privacy policy for Bumpo!

AI Research and Development OÜ ("we," "us," or "our") provides the Bumpo! game for Android and web browsers (the "Game"). This Privacy Policy explains how the Game handles information.

Summary

Bumpo! does not sell personal information or use it for advertising or analytics. Players never sign up or log in, and the Game does not contain advertising or in-app purchases. Offline play sends nothing to us. Optional online rooms, which a grown-up must switch on, send the minimum needed to let players join the same room.

Information we collect

Offline play collects nothing. When online play is used, our game server processes:

• A random install identifier created by the Game. It is not derived from the device or any hardware identifier and is used only to keep the connection working and to limit abuse. The server stores it in a technical record together with a random server-generated user number and username and the record's creation and update times. This record holds no name, contact details, or other information about the player.
• The player name and color chosen in the Game, shown to the other players in the same room. Names are limited to letters, digits, spaces, hyphens, and underscores and are filtered; we recommend not using a full real name.
• The room code, room settings, and in-match game input and state, needed to run the shared match.
• The device's IP address, used in memory for security and rate limiting, and the platform name (for example Android or Web), which is checked when connecting and not stored.

The Game does not collect or transmit:

• Email addresses, phone numbers, or account details.
• Precise or approximate location.
• Contacts, photos, files, camera, or microphone data.
• Advertising identifiers or device hardware identifiers.
• Gameplay analytics, diagnostics, or crash reports.
• Payment or purchase information.

Information stored on the device

The Game stores settings locally on the user's device or in the browser's storage: audio preference, language, control mode, joystick side, action button order, tilt sensitivity and deadzone, the last offline game setup, gameplay tuning changed in the settings console, the chosen player name and color, whether a grown-up allowed online play, and the random install identifier. Of these, only the name, color, and install identifier are sent, and only while online play is used.

Android removes this local information when the Game is uninstalled or its storage is cleared; browsers remove it when site data is cleared.

Touch and motion sensors

The Game can use touchscreen input and, when the player chooses sensor controls, the device's motion/orientation sensors to control gameplay. Touch and sensor values are processed temporarily on the device to move the player's character and activate game actions.

We do not record, retain, or transmit touch paths, accelerometer data, gravity data, gyroscope data, device orientation, or calibration values. Control calibration lasts only for the current play session.

Network access and third parties

Online rooms connect to a room server and a match server operated by us at games.researchdevelopment.ai, hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in data centers in the European Union. Hetzner acts only as our hosting provider; game data is not transferred outside the European Union. Rooms have no chat and no friend lists. A grown-up must answer a question before online play is switched on, and can switch it off again at any time from the online screen. The Game provides no cloud saves, analytics, advertisements, or other social features.

When the Game is downloaded or updated through Google Play, Google processes information under Google's own terms and privacy policy. Google Play's handling of store transactions, downloads, security checks, and diagnostics is outside the Game and is controlled by Google.

Children's privacy

Bumpo! is designed to be suitable for children and families. Online play is off until a grown-up switches it on, and it shows other players only a filtered name and color. The Game does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, user sign-up, chat, or user-generated content other than the player name.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell user data. A player's chosen name and color are shown to the other players in the same room; nothing else is shared with other players or third parties.

Data retention and deletion

Room membership and names exist only while a room is in use. A disconnected player's place and name are held for up to 5 minutes so they can rejoin, and the room is discarded when it has been empty for 10 minutes. The server record for the install identifier is kept until we delete it on request. Server access logs do not record IP addresses, and all server logs are kept for at most 30 days. Players can remove locally stored data by clearing the Game's storage or site data or uninstalling the Game, and can request deletion of server-side data using the contact below.

Legal basis and your rights

We process the information above to provide online rooms that a grown-up has switched on and to keep the service secure, based on our legitimate interest in running a safe game service. Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and object to its processing. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon). To use your rights, email us at the address below.

Security

We limit the Game to the permissions and device capabilities needed for its documented features. No method of software distribution is completely free of risk. If we discover a security issue affecting users, we will investigate and release an update when appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the Game's features, data practices, legal requirements, or distribution services change. We will publish the updated policy at this URL and change the effective date above. Material changes to data practices will be reviewed before the related Game update is released.
